A Grand Tour of Madden’s Golf Courses & Offerings
Most visitors to the Brainerd Lakes area are enticed by the recreational amenities that the water provides: fishing, boating, beach-going, and more. With its prime placement on the peninsula surrounded by the shimmering waters of Gull Lake, Madden’s captures all of what travelers come to expect from an up-north vacation on the lake. But even though Gull Lake is our last name, the lake is just one of our defining features. When you’re not on the water, you can experience golf like never before when you step onto one of Madden’s four golf courses. Each course has a different challenge and a different goal. From playing with the family to playing like a pro, every level of golfer will find a course to love.
Join our Head Golf Professional Glenn Hagberg as he take you on a grand tour of Madden’s Airport Driving Range, Pine Beach West, The Social 9, and The Classic, showcasing what makes each course unique.
Airport Driving Range
Madden’s Airport Driving Range features dedicated practice areas for all modes of play–putting, short game, and full swing–so you can practice your full range of skills. With a covered and heated hitting area, it’s a great place to come to get your fix of golf if your plans for a round on the course are put off by the weather. Between Junior Golf and specialized golf clinics, there’s always something fun happening on the range. Top it all off with our newest addition in 2019–ice cream!
Pine Beach West
When you step foot onto Pine Beach West, immediately you will be awed by the amazing condition of the greens, and as you make your way around the course, you’ll get to experience the serenity of nature, playing a refreshing variety of par 3s, 4s, and 5s. The variety Pine Beach West provides is perfect for players of any age, which is why have added a Junior Tee and included the West in Youth on Course this year. But don’t think that means this course isn’t a challenge for seasoned players; in fact, we have a challenge for you: if your round breaks par on Pine Beach West, we will give you a refund!
The Social 9
The Social 9 is the perfect course to enjoy a casual round of low-stress golf with the entire family. As the only course in the area with view of Gull Lake, playing the Social 9 will make you feel like you’re on a vacation, even if you’re just out for the day. Family-friendly offerings on this course include a Family Scramble held every Thursday and $5 play for juniors anytime as part of the Youth On Course pass. The Social 9 is also included in Madden’s Recreation Pass for Madden’s guests.
Right next to the Social 9 is Pine Beach East, Madden’s most historic course and home to the state’s only Par 6 and to Madden’s Annual Parent-Child Tournament.
The Classic
Ranked #4 on Golfweek’s list of Best Courses You Can Play in MN, #9 in Golf Digest’s list of Minnesota’s Best Golf Courses, and #59 in Golf Digest’s America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses, The Classic at Madden’s is a nationally recognized course that serves as a classic reminder of how golf should be. This course is not for the faint of heart and requires strategic play at every turn. Apart from the beauty and integrity of the course itself, The Classic remains true to its traditional roots by offering caddies–the only public golf course in the state with the service. In July and August, caddies will accompany all players before 10 am, and are available as an optional service thereafter. Being a caddie for Madden’s is a job that our team does not take lightly, and each caddie brings with him a wealth of knowledge of the course and a passion for the game.
